Wicksteed House
Stately 232 Wicksteed Street, opposite Christ Church in Whanganui, was built at the turn of the century and is currently home to both the Whanganui Learning Centre and the Wicksteed Community Trust.
In 1957 the building was purchased by the YWCA as a hostel for young women. Mrs McIntyre, president at the time, considered that the hostel was vital for the support of rural women who wished to further educational and career opportunities.

The house was also used for activities including self defense, ballet, community and business gatherings.
It is now kept in trust by the Wicksteed Community Trust, a charitable body governed by a group of well respected community members.
