Literacy & Numeracy is a critical issue for NZ
Literacy and numeracy are important aspects of communication. They affect how we see ourselves and how others view us. They either support or limit the degree to which we can participate in family, community and working life. They are vital skills in a digital age.
40% of New Zealanders do not have the literacy skills they need for home, work and life. Low literacy and numeracy levels impact on every aspect of the home, from grocery shopping and bank statements through to understanding school reports and helping children with homework.
